Scenes of Povery in South Africa

Scences of povery in South Africa

Most children are found in such places
The KFC Mercy Centre
From a Bible College to a Kids Centre

Dear Pastor Ben

KIDS FOR CHRIST – MERCY CENTRE
CHILD SPONSORSHIP

INTRODUCTION
While we acknowledge the government grants given to our children; we cannot deny the fact that a lot still need to be done for the millions of needy kids out there.
Most families rely on these child grants for survival; thus doing little for the benefit of a designated child; which denies him/her food, medical attention, better education and a safe environment.

South Africa had been faced by many challenges for the past 15 years after a long struggle with apartheid which on its own caused much damage to our children.

· HIV/AIDS had been a major blow to South Africa's children which had brought about many orphans or children raised by single parents.

· Unemployment and poverty had brought about many deaths to our children due to starvation and lack of medical attention.

· The recent xenophobic attacks has also contributed towards the number of orphans in our country.

· The family conflicts & divorces are major setbacks to our children.

· The immigration of refugees from other parts of Africa to South Africa has brought about an increase to children who need an immediate help.

The church need to stand for these children who have become the victims of the evil circumstances. It is the church that can restore morals to our community through children and raise a generation of hope.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

-To feed the children.

-To provide medical attention.

-To provide education to pre-school children.

-To create a safe environment for the children.

-To give hope to thousands of poverty stricken children. Hope not only for a better tomorrow, but hope in coming to know Jesus Christ, and the wonder of His mercy and love.
This is a programme whereby a needy child is attached to a family/individual that has volunteered to support that particular needy child with basic needs; e.g. food, medication, education and shelter.
HOW DO WE DO IT AT WESTSIDE
Pre-school children in South Africa pays R550.00 monthly (normal fee). We worked our costs per child based on what pre-school children normally pays in South Africa.
With R550.oo, the teachers are paid and children are given enough food and better education.
Now, our KFC Mercy Centre at Soshanguve will accommodate 75 children for a start while we are aiming to have atleast 200 children in total by December 2009.
These kids will be accommodated in different catagories.
First catagory:
-Pre-school kids (These kids will include kids that will be accommodated in our centre, and those in need who stays with their families) Age: 3-5
Second Catagory:
-After care Kids: (Those who attend school) Age: 6-11
Third Catagory
-Orphans: (Those who have no where to stay) Age: 6-11. We do not encourage orphanage programme, but if need be, kids will be accommodated in our centre. This is in case of abuse situation.
WHERE WILL WE GET FUNDS TO RUN THE CENTRE
The Westside Christian Fellowship Assembly is affliated under the United Apostolic Faith Church (UAFC).
The are 75 assemblies under the UAFC nationally.
We proposed to Create KFC Mercy Corners in each assembly.
These corners will help to mobilise Christians to sponsor a child.
This means each assembly will sponsor one child in our assembly.
45 members of the church can be able to break down an amount of R550.oo every month and contribute to the child.
These 45 members will fall under what we call; KFC Mercy Club. The Mercy Corners will be known as the KFC Mercy Corners.
In these Mercy Corners, pictures and stories of the child will be displayed.
Pastor's wives had been requested to coordinate the KFC Mercy Corners.
ANOTHER STRATEGY
We will wash atleast 45 cars every month to support one child.
This means we will sign a contract with car owners for us to wash their cars atleast once a month.
We will also have a team of car washers whom we shall call "KFC Soldiers of Mercy".
They will be responsible for washing cars and get part of the money paid, some will go to the child and some will pay for the water bills. The KFC Soldiers of Mercy will be trained proffessionally to satisfy the needs of our sponsors.
ANOTHER STRATEGY
This is where you need to help us pastor Ben. We need support from overseas.
We have written to some of the organisation in USA, England and Canada seeking for partnership, but we believe Children's Cup can be the best organisation to help us.
We believe you can run the KFC Mercy Centre the way you run some of your projects in other countries. South Africa was also one of those countries that was fighting an internal war. Take for example the 16 June 1976 uprising. Such scenes were experienced all over SA for many years.
The KIDS FOR CHRIST MERCY CENTRE named after your great idea which we believe promotes Jesus' love to our children and the community at large
We are willing to have KFC Mercy Centre all the 75 asemblies if we get support. This will be easy if you come in as a partner in our program.
Please help us Pastor Ben.
